Gathering Poole and North Bournemouth- Mothers' Union 140th
Father Michael Camp warmly welcomed all Mothers’ Union members of the Deanery of Poole and North Bournemouth to a wonderful Service celebrating the 140th Anniversary of Mothers’ Union in the beautiful Church of St Peter’s, Parkstone, on 12 July 2016.
The MU Branch of St Peter’s had worked so hard alongside Father Michael making the preparations for the Service perfect in every way. Deanery branches brought their Banners as well as individual tokens which represented the special work of their Branch.
All the tokens which were brought to the Service demonstrated the devotion and service of members in their sharing of the love of Christ amongst their own communities. This was work faithfully and lovingly following the path shown to us by Mary Sumner. The work which she began, and which is still so alive, so relevant and so fruitful, 140 years on.
But this was not only an Anniversary Service to celebrate 140 years of MU but also a Service of affirmation and re-dedication. Two new members were enrolled and all members of the Deanery were invited to affirm their membership of MU.
Of course, no celebration is complete without tea and cake – and what a magnificent cake! It was almost too beautiful to cut.
This was a day to remember and special thanks must go to Janet Everett and Margaret Jones of St. Peter’s, Parkstone MU who made everything so special. Also, a very warm welcome to Maureen Trew and Ann Tyson, our newly enrolled members – may they grow in the love and fellowship of MU. Congratulations to all members of the Deanery of Poole and North Bournemouth for joining together for such a memorable Service and Celebration of Faith. Thank you for a wonderful day.
