Rural Officers

by Michael Ford last modified 16 Nov, 2018 03:10 PM

Helping the majority of those who live in this diocese - those who live and/ or work in a rural setting.

Your Rural Officers are:

Richard’s role extends across the whole of Dorset, from chaplaincy work in Salisbury livestock market, to working with a PCC in a tiny, very rural parish, to talking to a farmer with major problems.

Richard is happy to come to parishes to assist clergy, lay ministers and PCCs looking at how to become more engaged in rural mission and ministry, or supporting the farming industry. Equally, he is quite happy to preach at special services by arrangement.

If you are considering a project under the Rural Hope programme, an initiative through the Germinate: Arthur Rank Centre, or a village-based activity, contact Richard and he will be only too happy to help.

Anthony visits livestock markets, shows, rallies and farm open days; attends a wide variety of meetings, training days and forums; networks with volunteers; one to one meetings and discussions on matters of concern; and attends Diocesan Chaplains’ Meetings. Anthony also has links with the Agricultural Christian Fellowship.

Work includes:

Collaboration with other organisations involved in rural and agricultural issues, agricultural training institutions, agricultural show committees, and farmers’ organisations. See links below.
