Bishop Blesses Foundations
The Bishop of Salisbury, Nicholas Holtam, will bless the foundations for the new Diocesan Education Centre at The Avenue, Wilton on Tuesday (31 January, 1pm).
The Mayor of Salisbury, Councillor John Abbott JP, and the Mayor of Wilton, Councillor Ivan Seviour, will also attend, along with the Chair of the Diocesan Board of Education, Sir Al Aynsley-Green, and the Director of Education, Chris Shepperd.
The Bishop said, “This ceremony marks the beginning of a new chapter in our work as a Diocese. This centre will provide a purpose-built centre of excellence and welcome for school staff, parish workers and community groups. This is not just good news for our staff: this will be a first-rate facility for Wiltshire, Dorset and further afield.”
Sir Al Aynsley-Green said, “We’re putting children and young people at the heart of our work as a Diocese. The Board of Education is passionately committed to seeing lives transformed by the highest possible standards of support for schools, children’s groups, youth clubs and community work, all guided by Christian values. We’re ready for the off!”
The current Diocesan Education Centre is located in Pembroke School, Devizes Road, Salisbury.
