RE, Worship, Spirituality and RSHE
‘Transforming Lives’ is our vision and strategic plan for our work in this core area of our role. It was developed over a number of months with advisers, head teachers and members of the Cathedral Education service. The vision within it states:
‘God working through us to make a difference to the lives of children and young people through outstanding religious education, collective worship and spiritual development’
The principles underpinning this work are:
- To empower school communities to be innovative and take risks in the experiences they offer for children and young people to engage in religious education, collective worship and spirituality
- Thus enabling school communities to challenge children’s and young people’s knowledge and understanding in religious education, collective worship and spirituality, offering knowledge and opportunities for reflection.
- Thereby encouraging and supporting school communities to live out the Christian message by taking action that transforms the lives of children and young people
Since the writing of this vision, requests from schools have resulted in us broadening our work to include aspects of social, moral, spiritual and cultural development.
We hope the following pages empower, enable and encourage you to engage in this work with us.
