St Peter’s Officially Opens
St Peter's CE Primary Academy, Salisbury, was officially dedicated by the Bishop of Salisbury, Nicholas Holtam, on Thursday 18 October.
The official opening was attended by Director of Education Joy Tubbs, Academy Trust* CEO Mark Lacey, Project Manager Yvonne Morrison and the leadership team behind the build.
Appropriately, the service was held in the learning hub area in the entrance to the school, seated around a life-size wooden boat representing the Bible story of the disciples of Jesus on a journey of discovery.
Children read the story of Jesus rescuing Peter and also shared a number of prayers they had written themselves. The Bishop enlisted the help of two pupils as he unveiled a plaque and pronounced a blessing.
Mark Lacey said, “It was so wonderful to welcome the Rt Revd Nicholas Holtam to dedicate St Peter’s, and to see so many of the people who have made this fantastic school possible. There was joy as the plaque was unveiled, and such a sense of coming together to celebrate. The staff, parents and children have all been brilliant!”
Headteacher Ollie Martindale said, “I would like to thank each and every parent, governor, member of staff, education adviser, volunteer, and above all every pupil, for making this day possible. We are looking to the future with hope and vision, and we expect great things!”
St Peter's CE Primary Academy is located in Salisbury, in the large new housing developments above the former Land Forces HQ site. It is one of a number of brand new schools to have opened in September 2018. The custom-built facility has three teachers, three teaching assistants and three classrooms, with 82 pupils on roll.
