Melksham School Strikes Gold
Forest & Sandridge has been awarded the Gold Religious Education Quality Mark (REQM) by the Religious Education Council of England and Wales.
Principal Anna Willcox says:
"This is a nationally recognised award that celebrates outstanding RE teaching. As a church school with strong Christian foundations, we are extremely proud to be one of only 34 schools nationwide to receive the gold award.
"At Forest & Sandridge, the Christian faith forms the bedrock of everything we do. Our RE programme is therefore core to our aim to promote the spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development of all our pupils.
"Our RE curriculum is led by two interlinked learning schemes: ‘Understanding Christianity’ and ‘Discovery RE’. These teaching schemes allow children to understand and reflect personally on the key writings and teachings of the Christian faith while also giving them the opportunity to explore a wide range of different religions during their time at our school.
"We are honoured to receive this award and be recognised for our work in religious education. Nonetheless, we are committed to sustaining progress in this area and further establishing Forest & Sandridge as an exemplary Church of England school.
"We’d like to thank all our teachers and pupils for helping us achieve the gold REQM and for embodying Christian values both inside and outside of school."
"Special thanks to Tiffany Butcher, RE leader, for leading our school so well through this process!"
