Golden Values, Great Results

SIAMS* Inspector David Hatrey notes,

“Children are confident to articulate the distinctive Christian meaning of values and the significant difference they make to their lives and achievements.

“Children’s behaviour is excellent, they make rich relationships and show care and concern for one another, attributing this to the Christian character of the school.

“The children’s collective worship team play a significant role in planning, leading and evaluating worship and contribute to the difference that worship makes for others.

“The church makes an excellent contribution to the life of the school, notably through worship and governance.”

Golden Leaf Awards are given to show the benefits of applying the school values, and Values Days reinforce them further. ‘Cultural passports’ give insight into personal development and appreciation of other religions and cultures. All Saints has an Artsmark Gold Award from the Arts Council.

Children are fully involved in planning, leading and developing worship so that it makes a significant impact. A children’s collective worship group is well established, thanks to the work of the vicar.

Provision is individualised where needed, and many pupils achieve beyond national expectations, with a number achieving the higher levels. Peer mentoring is established, with school staff modelling, and celebrating, best practice. Governors also contribute strongly in school life.

Headteacher Kate Heathcote says, "I was very proud of the children, especially those interviewed by the Inspector. All the children were a real credit to the school and showed respect and good behaviour all day.

“Many thanks also to the parents who came to speak to the Inspector too and to the Governors who spent the day in school, supporting us and making cakes and cups of tea!”

The school will continue to update Religious Education (RE) and assessment, to ensure more children achieve the higher levels of attainment, and will further develop high quality experiences for spirituality, enabling children to express deeper ideas passionately and creatively.

Whiteparish All Saints Church of England Voluntary Aided primary is a smaller than average school with 140 pupils on roll. The majority of children come from a White British heritage. The number of children who are entitled to pupil premium funding is below national averages, whilst the number of children who have special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) is above the national average.
