Bishop Canning's engages with The Archbishop of York's National Young Leaders Programme
Bishop's Cannings Primary school is asked to engage with the national programme centred around Young People Leadership
Four students from Bishop Cannings school have engaged in a National programme run by the Archbishop of York Youth Trust that centres around Young Leadership, they have been able to add their voices to a national report that will help determine the future of the church.
Catherine Vardy, Headteacher sent us the following;
The children were very excited (and a little nervous but that was quickly overcome!)
Children from years 5 and 6 at Bishops Cannings School were very proud and excited to take part in the National Young Leader Event in November. We joined children from across the country to discuss the future of the Church and how it can engage young people in its vision for the future. Outside of these challenging times, we would not have been able to meet children from other schools across the country, but the benefits of technology were quickly evident as our pupils met other pupils who were located hundreds of miles away via Zoom.
Children were given time to talk to each other and to share ideas. Practical activities had been prepared and in particular one of our pupils reported “I enjoyed creating the Top Trump cards and thinking about concerns which we have that maybe the Church can help with”. In addition to this our children said “It was nice to talk to other children in the break out rooms especially when we found out how far away they were”.
The next session will be held in January and we are looking forward to taking part and for children within our school contributing to shaping the vision of the Church of England for the future.
