At the heart of Rethinking Resilience
“The day put children and young people firmly at the heart of the day’s thinking” was the verdict of the team from the SDBE who attended the Church of England’s Foundation of Educational Leadership conference.
Staff and church leaders from the Diocese were out in force at the annual conference that was chaired by the Revd Nigel Genders, Chief Education Officer of the Church of England Education Office.
Our attendees joined those from across the country as they engaged in a day of workshops and speeches led by keynote speakers who shared their thoughts on the central topic: ‘Rethinking Resilience’.
SDBE Chair Canon Joy Tubbs said:
“It was inspiring to join school and academy leaders from all over the country at the Church of England Education Foundation conference on ‘Rethinking Resilience’.
“The day supported us to think about the joy and the stretch of our multiple identities – at work, home, at play. We thought about where resilience comes from; resilience that sustains us in the lean years and resilience that enables us to flourish and thrive in every sense of our lives.
Nicola Coupe, our School Improvement Adviser, said:
“The day began with uplifting and pertinent musical inspiration from schools around the country singing songs such as Emeli Sandé’s ‘Read all About it’, which set the tone that it was all about putting children and young people firmly at the heart of the day’s thinking.”
The next conference will be held on 6th February 2020.
