Youth Stations of the Cross

by Michael Ford last modified 16 Apr, 2019 03:19 PM

Hammering, chains, wiping, TS Elliot and post it notes are just some of the activities at a Wiltshire Church Youth Group will take part in during their Stations of the Cross on Good Friday.

The MYG (The Youth Group of the Minster Church of St Denys, Warminster) will be walking the Stations using actions and activities, as well as readings and prayers at the High Altar.

Tim Spinney, who helps organise the Group at the Minister said:

"Each year they have about five special 'Youth Services', to which they like to invite everyone.

"The next MYG Service is on Good Friday at 4pm. It will be a walking Stations of the Cross for Good Friday with our youngsters in mind but appropriate for ALL!!

"We will meet in the Minster Car Park, come rain or shine. Using actions and activities, readings and prayers we will proceed eventually to the High Altar.

"There will be hammering, carrying, chains, wiping, post-it notes, drawing pins, and more! The link, from start to the end, will be stressed through lines from T S Eliot's Four Quartets. This Service has kindly been devised for us and will be led by Canon Harold Stephens.

"MYG is a Youth Group with a difference. Do come and join us. We would love you to be to there!"

In the past the MYG has taken part in a Mummers Play, been awarded a short cookery course certificates and even been on 'manoeuvres' with the Local Army.

On 5 May, the group will be taking part in a special Sunrise Holy Communion on top of Clay Hill.

Tim added: "Keep Saturday morning 5th May free. More on that later!"
