Yetminster fundraises £115K
A fundraising programme to carry out essential renovation work and to transform the beautiful Grade 1 listed St Andrew’s Church in Yetminster for wider use has generated an impressive £115,000.
Work can now begin on repairs to the tower and the installation of a kitchen to encourage the local community to use the building for general events and social activities. New heating and lighting has already been installed which greatly enhances the ambience of the church.
Generous support from the All Churches Trust, the Erskine Muton Trust and Dorset Historic Churches Trust has contributed £20,000.
A local resident donated a very generous £50,000, the remainder coming from other donations and an active and well supported programme of fundraising activities.
Demonstrating the flexibility and suitability of the Church as a venue for social gatherings, the events included an exciting range of concerts and family entertainment aimed to draw in all age groups.
The Rector of the Benefice, Tony Gilbert said:
"I am grateful to everyone who has supported our fundraising efforts and to the generous contributions from the Trusts and residents of Yetminster. It is uplifting to see so many people of all ages enjoying different activities in the Church in addition to our normal Church services. Widening the appeal of the building for all in the community is the way forward to secure St Andrew’s future."
