Westbury Leigh C of E Primary School goes Purple
Westbury Leigh C of E Primary School recently held a #PurpleUp day for a valuable cause.
Mrs Greening who leads the school's “Forces Life Club” explains “April is the month of the Military child and to celebrate and raise awareness for children who have a parent or parents in the armed forces WLPS held a #PurpleUp day!
Why purple? Military children have parents in all branches of the forces and purple combines all their colours.
Why the dandelion? The plant puts down roots almost anywhere and is almost impossible to destroy, a survivor in a broad range of climates - Military children bloom everywhere the wind carries them”.
The Service children at WLPS led an assembly where they shared their feelings about being a military child. Arthur said that, “Leaving old friends is harder than trying to make new ones!” and Amelia told us,
“Starting a new school and making new friends is hard, it’s like starting a new life and sometimes you feel lonely.”
Mrs Grimsey Headteacher said, “The children led an inspiring worship that raised the profile of our Service children, we are so proud of them, we encourage all children to flourish no matter what challenges they may face. We work to help them be confident and aspirational individuals who are ready to take their place and make their mark on the future!”
