Watch the Wintershall Passion at home

by Michael Ford last modified 09 Apr, 2020 12:01 PM

For the first time since 2010, the Wintershall Passion of Jesus play won't be performed in Trafalgar Square this year.

Last year 20,000 people gathered in central London on Good Friday to watch the the Easter story for free. But obviously this year, coronavirus restrictions mean this is not possible.

So instead the performance is going online.

Using pre-recorded excerpts of rehearsals from their 2020 Passion Play, together with excerpts of Passion performances from the other cities and towns taking part in the 'One Good Friday' 2020 project, both 'The Passion' and the 'One Good Friday' story will be available online on Good Friday.

It can be watched "live" through the Wintershall Facebook page at 12 and 3pm and then after the live-stream, the recording will be available on YouTube and the link will be found on this page, under Media Gallery at the bottom.

Filmed without an audience, the recording will also include interviews with cast members and testimonies from the 'One Good Friday' organisers about their Passion 2020 journey.

The 'story' is one hour long followed by a recording of Passion 2019 in Trafalgar Square.
