Trying a Christmas Nativity Trail
In this festive season, current restrictions are no barrier to ingenuity and community spirit. Many churches are working together across denominations to make the most of their collective resources and share the 'reason for the season'.
The Revd Alastair Wood explains:
"For the past few years, Church Action in the Trowbridge Area (CATA) has organised a living nativity, showing the story of Jesus' birth on the streets of Trowbridge with people playing the characters and even a real donkey. However, due to the current situation, we are unable to do the same thing this year... So, we thought we'd try something different in 2020!
"The Trowbridge Christmas Nativity Trail is a series of scenes from the biblical story of Jesus' birth, telling part of it at each location. There are a total of 14 scenes around the town located at churches, schools and supermarkets.
"You can visit each one and fill in a leaflet with the missing words from the information on the boards at each one.
"There is also a letter at each scene which will build to form a phrase which you can rearrange to be in with a chance of winning some great prizes.
"It looks really exciting, and particularly good that we are placed in this project, as it does us no harm at all.
"The antidote for Covid gloom is to become involved, so the more of us who can make time available on Christmas Eve for the outdoor Christmas means we can have more happening, so please let me know if you have some time to spare and we can get you up and running."
