Three little pigs and the big bad wolf
Our recent Generous Giving Campaign highlighted the need to reflect God's generosity to us. And while it is important that our giving sustains and supports our ministry and mission, we also share that generosity more widely. So, On Saturday 6th November, Wiltshire pig farmers, donned their pig onesies and abseiled 42ft down St Mary’s Church in Devizes.
Cameron Naughton, son Alasdair and his partner Hannah abseiled down St Mary’s Church in Devize to raise vital funds for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
The challenge, which was not for the faint-hearted, saw the brave abseilers descend 42ft down the Grade I listed church in Devizes before meeting Ed Elliot, a Senior Abseiling Instructor on the ground. Joined by church-warden, Wes, who was dressed in a Big Bad Wolf costume. The group has already raised an incredible £5,000!
Speaking about their fundraising, Cameron, who is no stranger to adrenaline-fuelled challenges, taking on a 5,000ft charity skydive in 2019, said:
“Agriculture is a dangerous occupation and those who work in farming are often working in inaccessible and isolated places.
The Air Ambulance has helped many people who live and work in the countryside so it is something many people in the industry, including our family, want to support.”
Wiltshire Air Ambulance is a charity that provides an essential Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) across Wiltshire and surrounding counties.
“They need to raise £3.75m a year to continue saving lives,” continues Cameron, “but they are not directly funded by the Government and receive no National Lottery funding, so rely on generous public donations.”
