Three Faiths lament a Catastrophe
Muslims and Jews will join in a Service of Lamentation for the 1948 Nakba (Catastrophe) led by our Chaplain to Gypsies and Travellers.

The Revd Jonathan Herbert who lives at Hilfield Friary and serves as Dorset’s Chaplain to Gypsies and Travellers will conduct the service in St Mary’s Church, Fordingbridge, on 15 May.
It is 71 years since over 700,000 Palestinians fled their homes – never to return – in the wake of the establishment of the State of Israel.
Now there are around 7 million Palestinians worldwide, one and a half million of whom are still living in refugee camps, according to the United Nations.
Jonathan said: “People are still suffering from this event and the tragedy is still playing out today.
“We all want peace in Israel-Palestine but there can’t be one till this serious injustice is addressed.”
Mr Herbert who has served as a human rights monitor in Palestine added: “The service will be a solemn affair with music, prayers and reflections.
“The service will be interfaith – a Muslim family from Bournemouth will take part and a Dorset Jew from Weymouth will read a prayer especially written for the Nakba by Rabbi Brant Rosen.”
Teresa Parker of Quaker Peace and Social Witness, who has run a human rights programme in the Middle East will give the address, and the service will be followed by Palestinian refreshments.
Lamentation for the Nakba begins at 7.30pm. All are welcome.
