The Running Rector is at it again

by Michael Ford last modified 03 Sep, 2019 03:15 PM

This time, after taking a wedding he plans to swap his robes for running gear and run around the 8 churches in his benefice.

The Revd Richard Curtis says:

"As part of the annual Ride+Stride, I am planning, after a wedding at Bishops Cannings at 1.30pm, to run around the 8 churches in my benefice, finishing back at Bishops Cannings."

Ride+Stride which takes place this year on Saturday September 14th, raises money for Wiltshire and Dorset's churches.

Half the money donated goes to the participant's chosen church, and the other half is used by the Historic Churches Trust in grants to churches for repairs and preservation.

Richard will be running for the Wiltshire Historic Churches Trust.

Richard's sponsored "stride" comes just 7 days after he takes part in the Great North Run. He will be running in this 1/2 marathon course in aid of Parkinsons UK.

Richard says:

"I've been raising money for Parkinson's UK for over 10 years. My uncle, David, lived with Parkinson's for 27 years and since I've been involved with Parkinson's UK I've met so many people who also live with Parkinson's.

"I've also seen something of the wonderful work that Parkinson's UK does and so I continue to be involved and do all that I can to raise money for Parkinson's UK."

"My race number is 6667 if you want to look out for me in the nearly 60 000 people who run this course each year.
