The First-ever National Christingle Service

by Michael Ford last modified 27 Nov, 2020 09:01 PM

Memories of a special Christingle here in this Diocese feature heavily in the Duchess of Gloucester’s recollections of Christingles past.

The Duchess is speaking as part of the Children's Society’s first-ever National Christingle Service in partnership with the Church of England, streamed on the Church of England’s website, Facebook and YouTube channels.

The service will include a few words from HRH the Duchess of Gloucester where she remembers the 50th anniversary Christingle service held at Salisbury Cathedral. The pictures that feature in the video will also bring back fond memories from those who attended from our schools.

You can watch a trailer here.

Bishop Nicholas has also added his contribution to the Children’s Society Christingle 2020 campaign with his own video.

The Bishop’s Christingle 2020 message also shares a prayer to schools and parishes across the Diocese in support of The Children’s Society.

Gill Ford, from the Children’s Society says:

“Spreading hope and the light of Christ has never felt more crucial for everyone, especially children and young people and their families who have been severely affected during the Covid pandemic. Please feel free to use and share this link.”
