The Chelsea Bible Show

by Michael Ford last modified 05 Feb, 2020 04:50 PM

Daylight hours are lengthening and daffodil shoots are starting to appear! Spotting the stirrings of spring is doubly exciting this year as we look ahead to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May, when Psalm 23 will be brought to life in the form of a garden.

The Bible Society is working with award-winning designer Sarah Eberle for a presentation plot at the internationally-renowned Show.

Sarah Eberle is RHS Chelsea’s most decorated designer – winner of an incredible 17 gold medals - and she hopes that the visual imagery of Psalm 23 will “stop people in their tracks.”

The design will offer visitors a chance to stop, reflect and feel refreshed.

The Chelsea Bible Show- the garden

The Bible Society invites churches and community groups across the country to be inspired by the psalm and crate their own designs in school grounds, in churchyards and in other community spaces.

Groups will then be invited to share their designs on Facebook and Instagram, both with the Society and with Sarah.

In advance of the show, on Saturday 29 February the Bible Society be broadcasting a Facebook Live with Sarah, and she’ll be answering questions from 11.30am.

After the show, the garden is to find a permanent home at the Winchester Hospice.

Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me. You prepare a table before me In the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil: my cup overflows. Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. (ESV)
