The Best Dog
Bear, a black retriever, stole the show at the marriage of Lizzie Barry and Sam Green, celebrated at St Nicholas Worth Matravers on Saturday.
Just prior to the blessings of the rings, in response to a short whistle from Sam, Bear bounded purposefully down the aisle, carrying the rings on a white ribbon around his neck.
With Bear’s large paw resting on Sam’s arm, Sam untied the ribbon and released the rings. Mission accomplished, and to loud applause, Bear returned down the aisle, tail wagging and head held high.
The best man commented, "I was completely upstaged - Bear was the dog for the job, the most competent ring bearer Sam and Lizzie could ever have hoped to find."
