"Thank you for your welcome"
Our new Diocesan Secretary, David Pain, recently sent an email, which is reproduced below.
Dear all
Thank you for the many messages and words of welcome last week. After three days I have only just begun to learn about our work and l look forward to many more conversations in coming days.
If you are just back from leave yourself, can I welcome you back! I look forward to meeting you.
Over the weekend at home we packed up the Christmas decorations. I was reminded of these words from the African American theologian and civil rights campaigner, Howard Thurman:
When the song of the angels is stilled,
When the star in the sky is gone,
When the kings and princes are home,
When the shepherds are back with their flocks,
The work of Christmas begins:
To find the lost
To heal the broken
To feed the hungry
To release the prisoner
To rebuild the nations
To bring peace among people
To make music in the heart.
The vision and purpose of enabling a thriving Christian presence in every community unites us, I look forward to working with you on it.
Yours
David
