Thank you for Renewing Hope
"Thank you for all you are doing to care for your communities, to renew hope and to enable people to pray, serve and grow in these difficult times."
That was the message from Bishop Nicholas, as he personally thanked our ministry teams.
In a letter to all clergy who are licensed or hold Permission to Officiate and Licensed Lay Ministers, the Bishop said:
"It is with a very heavy heart that I forward the latest letter from the Archbishops and Bishops about the closure of churches even for private prayer.
"The principles behind this latest guidance are clear. As a Church, we are committed to acting together on the best advice available with messaging that will help us care for the whole community, including the most vulnerable."
He added:
"We are now a Church that says our prayers at home."
Thanking them "for all you are doing to care for your communities, renewing hope and enabling people to pray, serve and grow in these difficult times",
The Bishop went on to say:
"Whatever happens in the coming weeks this is a time of intense social, economic and political change which needs spiritual support if we are to hold on to whatever is true, honourable, just, pure, pleasing and commendable if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise - which there most certainly is - in the ways most people are acting, think about these things."
