Talking Books

by Michael Ford last modified 16 Oct, 2019 01:54 PM

Every 6 minutes in the UK, someone starts to lose their sight.

Many people in our congregations will be struggling to read, or caring for someone struggling to read.

The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), one of the UK's leading sight loss charities is reaching out to community groups across our Diocese to raise awareness about their Talking Books service.

Jane McGoldrick, Area Fundraising Manager (Bristol, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Dorset) explains more:

"Our Talking Books service is one of our most loved services. It's a free, audio library of books that has helped create a lifeline to the outside world for blind and partially sighted people in the UK.

"We have a wonderful volunteer who is local to Salisbury who would love to present to your church. She has a personal connection to the cause and is extremely passionate about the service."

You can help spread the word about the wonderful free ‘Talking Books’ service from the RNIB by booking a talk at your church about their work.

If you would like a speaker to come to your church, or want to find out more details, or ring 07597 397290.
