Taking Mothering Sunday outside

by Michael Ford last modified 06 Apr, 2022 07:43 PM

St. Clement Jersey decided to host their Mothering Sunday Service out in the open.

The congregation was invited to create a yellow daffodil cross, with the flowers representing prayers for the mothers of Ukraine and all affected there. A few years ago a colossal 40,000 daffodils were planted to form a daffodil pathway, and every year they are picked for Mothering Sunday. Lots of open air services have been held in the meadow during Covid, with the first taking place back in 2020, for Mothering Sunday.

A Lent lunch has also been held by the church to raise funds for Ukraine, and so far about £1500 has been raised.
