Swanage on TV for Holy Week and Easter
Earlier this month, the American Christian television channel TBNUK came down to Swanage to film 3 programmes for Holy Week and Easter 2021.
Over the past 2 years, Simon Lole, Director of Music at St Mary’s Swanage, and former Organist and Director of Music at Salisbury Cathedral, has presented 2 series of programmes for TBNUK about church music called 'Sacred Harmony‘.
After discussions, Simon and TBNUK agreed to make 3 special Sacred Harmony programmes – musical devotions for Holy Week and Easter – and when the company wanted to move away from a London based recording, he suggested that they came to Swanage.
In each programme, Team Rector John Mann and Simon Lole discuss the relationship between liturgy and music and talk about the challenges and opportunities created when planning worship.
The 3 programmes include readings, prayers and a meditation as well as glorious choral music recorded in St Mary’s church.
Filming was also done in the surrounding beautiful countryside, and members of other churches in Swanage took part, with the Methodist minister, Salvation Army Officer and a representative of the Roman Catholic Church in the town all featured.
The programmes air on TBNUK via Freeview 65 and Sky 582, and are also available to watch live through the https://watch.tbnuk.tv website or the TBNUK app.
