Sudans Day 2021
This year's main update on the current social and political situation in Sudan and South Sudan, and on the work of the Deaneries and the Sudan Committee, takes place at St Francis' Church, Salisbury next month.
Entitled 'Hope and a future', the programme runs from 9.30am to 4.00pm on Saturday 9th October. Alongside key Diocesan figures such as Canon Ian Woodward and John Simmons, the day features Agnes Oswaha, Ambassador of the Republic of South Sudan in London, and Jane Backhurst, Senior Advisor to South Sudan Christian Aid.
Topics covered include 'South Sudan Today and in the Future', 'Peace Initiatives with SSCC' and 'MAF in South Sudan', along with updates from the Sudans Medical Link and Education Committee, Health work by CRESS*, and the Episcopal University.
The title of the day comes from a Bible verse found in the Book of Jeremiah: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah chapter 29, verse 11)
