Stop modern slavery, starting now

by Michael Ford last modified 15 Oct, 2021 10:02 PM

The #1Life1Voice Stop Modern Slavery project gets under way this week.

Save the dates: 15th-25th October.

Our Diocesan Champion Debbie Heritage says:

“On Friday 15th October at 5.00pm, we join Bishop Karen for the opening of the Young Peoples’ Modern Slavery Art Exhibition at the Chapter House in Salisbury Cathedral. The exhibition is open until Monday 25th October – please do check Cathedral opening hours.

“There are a range of national and regional guest speakers exploring the themes of modern slavery. Click on this link for further details: 1life1voice-talk-links.

“If you, your parish or community group are considering setting up a local project to act on localised modern slavery issues, please do contact The Clewer Initiative (the Church of England’s modern slavery arm) for further advice and support.

“The Clewer Initiative works locally with communities and can offer Hidden Voices training. They help groups to look at the risks and resources in local areas and ask how they can address those risks.

“The charity supports the exploration of how local communities can prevent modern slavery, raises awareness of how it affects their distinct community, and identifies and supports the victims.

“We look forward to seeing you at the guest speaker sessions and the exhibition!”
