Speaking out for the Deaf

by Michael Ford last modified 20 Nov, 2020 10:41 PM

Our Chaplain to the Deaf Community, the Revd Neil Robinson, has recorded an engaging video in British Sign Language (BSL) on Zoom, with a voiceover translation into English by an interpreter.

The short clip covers the challenges of how church has changed, Deaf clubs being closed, not being able to meet face-to-face or touch, being Deaf when most people are wearing masks and you can't lip read, mental health issues, and the encouragements of using technology and ministry training in new ways.

Neil says:

"I am sure that this will be a blessing to the others in this Diocese. They will be able to hear the voice of my interpreter as she translated BSL into spoken English. Enjoy!"
