Salisbury Plain school celebrates joining Diocese's Academies Trust

A Wiltshire village primary school is celebrating becoming a member of a growing academies trust.

Shrewton C of E Primary School converted to academy status under the Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust (DSAT) on 1 March, but will have its formal reopening as an academy after the Easter holidays. A church service to celebrate the event will be led by the Bishop of Ramsbury, the Rt Revd Dr Edward Condry, on Wednesday 26 April at 9.15 a.m.

Chief Executive of DSAT, Mark Lacey, said, “This is an exciting time for pupils, teachers and governors at Shrewton who will now be able to benefit from an academy trust with significant resources to draw on, well beyond the capacity of one school.”

Headteacher of Shrewton C of E VC Primary School, Lynn Taylor, added, We are excited that we are now part of DSAT, which will allow us to be part of a much broader education community across the Diocese, helping us ensure all our pupils enjoy learning and make the best progress through effective collaboration and sharing best practice.”

Tony Smith, Chair of the Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust (DSAT) Board, concluded, “Our academies trust is expanded significantly, allowing us to provide more and better services to our schools, and allowing Shrewton to share what is best about itself with others. We look forward to working with everyone involved and feel sure we will contribute to the development of the learning of all the pupils in our trust.”
