Sex and the City of God

by Michael Ford last modified 23 Oct, 2019 10:33 AM

There are a few spaces left on the third of our fascinatingly-titled 'Sex and the City of God' study days taking place on November 1st.

This Continuing Ministrial Development event is open to all and is being led by the former Bishop of Ramsbury, the Rt Revd Ed Condry, renowned public theologian Jayme Reaves, and conflict transformer Alastair McKay, at Amesbury Baptist Church.

The day will be spent exploring the issues around human sexuality from a variety of perspectives and asking the question - 'Are there limits to the diversity of conviction and belief that the Church is able to live with, and if so, where are those limits and what happens when they are reached?"

The day will also consider the differing world views of Provinces of the Anglican Communion, the multi-faceted witness of Scripture and the practical steps that the Church is taking to respond faithfully amid current tensions and concerns.

The Rt Revd Ed Condry was formerly the Bishop of Ramsbury. Prior to that, he was Canon Treasurer and Director of Education at Canterbury Cathedral where he was responsible for organising theological education for priests and bishops from around the Anglican Communion.

Jayme Reaves is a public theologian who has over 20 years’ experience as a consultant, researcher, facilitator, and lecturer in the US, UK, Former Yugoslavia, and Northern Ireland on the intersections between theology, biblical studies, gender, peace/ conflict, and memory. She is Coordinator for the Centre for Encountering the Bible at Sarum College.

Alastair McKay was formerly Director of Bridge Builders and has worked extensively in the field of mediation and conflict transformation.
