Saying it with flowers

by Michael Ford last modified 04 Sep, 2021 12:03 AM

Church-school partnerships are flourishing across our Diocese - and it can be a multi-sensory experience.

Dorset Associate Priest Margaret Preuss-Higham says:

"The church and community came together for a flower festival at St Nicholas' Church in Abbotsbury and Portesham Primary School showed off a selection of their brilliant artwork.

"The flower festival was held specifically in the first week of August to celebrate the community of Abbotsbury and the easing of lockdown restrictions.

"Village groups, individuals and businesses came together to fill the building, not only with colourful flowers but a wonderful perfume pervaded the whole building.

"The church has a unique set of kneelers, and a quiz was and is still available and waiting for you to take part in. The church also has two new residents - Vinney and Squeakers - they are to be found hiding somewhere in the church. They are white and brown and stuffed! [email Margaret< to find out more]

"One of the flower arrangers was heard to say ‘Isn’t this wonderful and so lovely to see my friends after all this time’ as she arranged some beautiful bright yellow sunflowers.

"The church was a joy to behold, and the display was enjoyed by many."
