West Wilts clergy run Bath Half Marathon for charity

A brace of clergy from Westbury is in training for the upcoming Bath Half Marathon, to raise money for charities.

The energetic ecumenical duo consists of the Revd Sue Miles, Curate in the White Horse Benefice, and the Revd David Coppard, Minister of Westbury Methodist and Westbury United Reformed Churches.

Sue is raising funds for Crosspoint, Westbury, the local drop in centre. Crosspoint is a charity founded on Christian values, which seeks to promote the wellbeing of all local residents on a non-discriminatory basis.

Crosspoint is hoping to use the money raised to set up a Counselling project for young people within the area of mental health.  Sue says, “the need for these services in our area is becoming more obvious as NHS services are diminishing. Crosspoint believe that they can help young people who are finding it hard to cope with the pressures of modern life and find they have nowhere else to go”.

David can often be seen cycling, walking, and running in and around Westbury often accompanied by his dog Poppy. In early April he will be 50 and he is raising sponsorship for the aid relief charity Christian Aid. For over 65 years, Christian Aid has worked to end poverty where the need is greatest regardless of religion nationality or race.

Donations for Sue and Crosspoint can be made at crowdfunding.justgiving.com/susan-miles-1.

The Bath Half Marathon will take place on 13 March.
