Retirement? What Retirement?
Bishop Ed Condry, the former Bishop of Ramsbury returned to our Diocese last week to speak to our other retired clergy.
The group gathered together for worship, workshops - including one on Rural Hope - and a keynote talk by Bishop Ed.
Canon Ann Philp, one of our two Clergy Retirement Officers, said:
"Under the broad headings of faith hope and love the session was marked by theological reflection of a high order. It was a day full of good talk, informal chatter not to mention a really good lunch.
"We are very grateful to Bishop Ed and wish him well in his future."
The Diocese is blessed with a good contingent of retired clergy willing to give of their time and experience to continue their ministry in our parishes. Many churches and congregations are sustained by this, especially during a time of interregnum.
Ann added:
"We are really grateful to those retired clergy who sustain the ministry of our church. They work really hard. Do look after them!"
The afternoon was marked by a series of workshops and there was a representative from the Pensions Board.
There will be a similar day next Autumn.
