Remembering: The Countess of Avon

The funeral for Clarissa Eden, The Countess of Avon will be at 2.00 pm on Wednesday 24th November at St Mary, Alvediston in our Diocese.

The Countess, who was the widow of Prime Minister Anthony Eden and Winston Churchill's niece died on Monday at the age of 101.  

The Reverend Catherine Blundell, Team Rector for the Chalke Valley Churches near Salisbury said: 

‘The village of Alvediston has received the news of the death of the Countess of Avon with sadness.  She and her husband, Anthony Eden, 1st Earl of Avon, are remembered with fondness by many people. 

I extend my condolences to her family and friends, along with my heartfelt thanks to those who supported and cared for her during her long life.  

She will be laid to rest alongside her husband in the churchyard.’
