A huge gap appeared in our parish yesterday, when Keith passed away in hospital with Marion, Hannah and Thomas at his bedside. As many of you would know, Keith had been fighting illness for a long period. Despite this he continued to serve the church in his role of treasurer right up to entering hospital recently. He was also Chair of the Chapmanslade Parish Council, and a Lay Worship Leader, but had recently taken a step back from those roles.

Even during the recent lockdown, Keith continued to work for the village community, despite being shielded, and continuing to receive treatment from the brilliant team at Southampton General Hospital, with them often visiting him at home. The Church has been an integral part of the Covid response team in Chapmanslade, with Keith working on the finances at its heart, ensuring the support for residents operated properly. He was also continuing to produce many newsletters and Bridge church inserts right up to the end of July.

There will be an opportunity to celebrate Keith’s service and dedication to all of us during the weeks to come. Now is the time to hold Marion, Hannah and Thomas in our thoughts and prayers. We are making plans to open St Philip and St James Church for private prayer, and a book of condolence is being obtained which will also be available in the church.
