Remembering... Canon Peter Ball
Colin Brady writes: A long-serving member of the Salisbury-Évreux link, Canon Peter Ball, died this afternoon (15th January 2021).
Peter would have been 91 this coming Sunday and I am sure many of us will recall his strong commitment to the relationship with our friends in France, and also to the work of ecumenism and hope of unity among Christians.
In years past we would have been making final preparations in these days for our meeting together, either in Wiltshire and Dorset or in Normandy, in anticipation of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. This year's resources for the week have been prepared by the ecumenical community of sisters at Grandchamp in Switzerland. So perhaps one of the prayers that they use each day would be appropriate as we remember Peter.
Pray and work that God may reign.
Throughout your day
let the Word of God breathe life into work and rest.
Maintain inner silence in all things
so as to dwell in Christ.
Be filled with the spirit of the Beatitudes:
joy, simplicity, mercy.
May he rest in peace and rise in love and glory.
