Recreating window dressing

by Michael Ford last modified 24 Apr, 2020 05:14 PM

Recreate, the annual Christian festival, has opened a window on a virtual festival.

Organisers of the St James Recreate Festival in Alderholt said it was "with great sadness" that they had decided to cancel this year's Festival that includes worship and Christian music and takes place in the Dorset village of Alderholt.

But with the present restrictions allowing residents daily exercise around the Dorset village where the festival normally takes place, organisers decided to launch a local window festival instead.

The idea was to raise funds for the charities that are supported by the big Festival.

Recreate organisers asked that in the week that would have been Festival (April 8th to the 12th) that residents decorate windows around the village.

The Recreate Team offered, for a donation, a window decorating pack with lots of coloured tissue paper and tape and they are encouraging households to be as creative as they like.

And judging by the winners of the top 3 windows, they were.

Organisers say the exact figure raised is still to be confirmed, but £100s were raised and they thanked everyone who took part.
