Post-Pentecost Reading

by Michael Ford last modified 30 Apr, 2021 11:54 PM

The third National Big Church Read will start on the 24th of May when we will be reading 'How to Pray' with Pete Greig.

The two previous national Big Church Reads featured 13 different books in total, including one with the Bishop of Oxford and his new book 'Comfortable Words'.

The National Church undertook a survey of participants which found, amongst other things, that:

  • 2026 places have taken part in a Big Church Read
  • 25% of people do not normally read a Christian book
  • 100% of people who do not normally manage to read the whole book, managed it

The Big Church Read's Steve Barnett says:

"It is very encouraging that so many people who do not normally read a Christian book are, and many more people are reading the whole book.

"If we can get more people joining in, the benefits of reading can have an impact on more people and churches.

"We have timed the start of the National Big Church Read so that churches can start it just as Thy Kingdom Come finishes."
