Peace Primary School Opens

by Michael Ford last modified 22 Mar, 2021 12:28 PM

A school in Sudan, part-funded by donations from this Diocese, has opened its doors and academic courses have begun.

We contributed £3,000 toward the school construction costs in 2019-2020, and £3,000 towards the cost of the school’s water supply system in 2020.

Diocesan Secretary Babuj Simon Kodi says:

"The coronavirus procedures taken by the government had hindered the opening of the school but the beginning was successful and the number of pupils has increased beyond that which was expected.

"The school started with 4 classes (Class 1 up to Class 4) and then Class 8 for pupils from other schools repeating the Basic Certificate exams and a Kindergarten. These additional classes came as result of the needs and the good reputation of the school resulting from the publicity and advertising done by teachers and by pupils themselves.

"We are planning to complete the rest of the unopened classes within the next year, if we see that this is possible. Also, we are thinking of having separate nursery school as now we are hosting the nursery children in the main school."

There were 4 main reasons given for the school’s success:

  • Teachers are of good reputation and have good experience
  • Fees are lower than those at other private schools
  • The school location is very suitable and well prepared
  • The Diocese’s support for pupils’ uniform and school books is a good advertisement

Kadugli Diocese has also submitted a Grant Request for Kindergarten Construction at Peace Secondary School.

Diocesan Secretary Babuj adds:

"Kadugli Diocese would like to offer special thanks to Mr Robert Hayward for his care, patience and advice and to Salisbury Diocese for the estimable funding and support. May our heavenly Father bless you all for his service and extension of his kingdom on earth."
