On the hunt for an ambassador

by Michael Ford last modified 23 Feb, 2022 04:29 PM

In February Jess Meale, Community Relationships Manager for The Children’s Society, spent some time in the Salisbury Diocese meeting with members of the charities fundraising groups.

Jess took over management of the Diocese from Gill Ford in November and this was the first time she met with supporters.  Committee meetings and thank you events were held across Devizes, Westbury and Dorchester, where attendees heard an update on the work of The Children's Society, and had a discussion about fundraising activities in a post-covid world.

There are 12 fundraising groups across the Diocese, specifically raising funds for The Children’s Society.  Collectively over the last year, they’ve raised an incredible £16,848.21! Of course, activity has been difficult over the last two years due to covid, and the charity has seen a huge loss in donations.

Jess said “It was lovely to meet so many dedicated supporters raising money for our work and I’m always in awe of the dedication they show.  There seems to be a real appetite to get events up and running again in 2022 and I ask you to please support these events if they are taking place in your local area.  The money raised will support children and young people faced with abuse, exploitation, and neglect. We want to make sure that every child in this country has hope for the future and that we create a society built for all children”.

In order to grow support across the diocese, Jess is looking to recruit a Diocesan Ambassador.  This is a voluntary role, helping to network with the church and community and open doors to further support.  More information can be seen in Jess’s video: Salisbury Diocesan Ambassador recruitment.
