New Rhythms, New Hope

by Michael Ford last modified 12 Sep, 2020 09:46 PM

Our Diocesan Environment Group has been busy for this year's Season of Creation, which runs from 1st September till 4th October. This year's theme is 'Jubilee for the Earth: New Rhythms, New Hope.'

Recommendations include a fundraising idea, and Eco Church taster Day via Zoom, and resources from leading environmental charity A Rocha.

A fundraising idea
Here is a good way to increase your church income and help save the planet. Bulb (bulb.co.uk), the green gas and electricity firm, are offering up to £50 to you and your friend when you refer them to sign up for gas and/or electricity. So why not send this round your church and ask people to pledge the money back to your church? Bulb is also one of the cheapest suppliers around, offers 100% renewable energy and 100% carbon neutral gas and is ranked in the top three most ethical home energy companies by Ethical Consumer magazine.

Eco Church National Zoom Taster Day: Saturday 10th October
A Rocha UK and St Albans Diocese are hosting a meeting for churches to find out more about Eco Church. The Woodford Valley's Revd Mike Perry, a Director of A Rocha UK, says: "this will be a great way to hear about the practical ways your church can care for creation, cut the carbon and create community." More details and a booking link here.

Talks for your online services from A Rocha UK
A Rocha UK, the people behind Eco Church, are posting a series of short videos on their YouTube channel specifically for churches to use in their services and other events as we continue to work online. The series includes a video sermon by the Revd Mike Perry, exploring why all of us have a vocation to creation care.
