Based on those issued by the National Church, the guidelines comply with safeguarding and other legislation, bringing together our current guidance notes.

Bishop Karen said:

"The guidelines outline a more robust system for applying for PTO and the renewal of PTO. If you already hold PTO there is nothing you have to do but to read the guidelines for information.

"When your PTO is due for renewal at the appropriate time the Ramsbury or Sherborne offices will be in touch to advise you on the process for renewal which now includes a conversation with your local Incumbent or Rural Dean as well as the fulfilment of safeguarding training and DBS requirements.

"May I take this opportunity to thank those of you with PTO for the support you give the diocese as clergy with Permission to Officiate it is greatly appreciated."

The guidelines have been placed on our diocesan website for ease of use and can be found here.
