New friends and a Wave of Prayer

Diocesan President Rosie Stiven says:

"A very warm welcome to our new friends on the Island of Guernsey. I was delighted to speak with The Very Reverend Tim Barker, Dean of Guernsey, and his wife, Judith, both members of Mothers’ Union, and to be able to welcome them, along with several Guernsey members, to Salisbury Mothers’ Union.

"I look forward to a long and happy association with our brothers and sisters in Guernsey and I sincerely hope that at some point this year, we will be able to come together in prayer and fellowship – for real.

"Prayer is central to our work as Mothers’ Union and each day, at midday, members all over the world pause to pray. The Wave of Prayer is a continuous expression of our commitment in prayer to each other, which runs throughout the year and encompasses all the places in which we are represented.

"In addition, every year, between 5th and 7th February, Mothers’ Union in Salisbury Diocese come together in Prayer, specifically to pray for our global organisation, our link Dioceses and our own Diocese.

"This year, we will come together, not physically perhaps, but nevertheless, united in prayerful fellowship in our homes. And as a membership we will say together The Mothers’ Union Prayer:

Loving Lord
We thank you for your love to freely given to us all.
We pray for families around the world.
Bless the work of the Mothers’ Union as we seek to share your love
Through the encouragement, strengthening and support of marriage and family life.
Empowered by your Spirit, may we be united in prayer and worship, and in love and service reach out as your hands across the world.
