New Director of Communications

Carole Peters-King, a former media professional and current priest in Northants, to take up post in October

The Diocese of Salisbury has announced that the Revd Carole Peters-King, currently Rector of the Astwell Benefice in the Diocese of Peterborough, who has over 25 years of media experience, is to be its new Director of Communications.

Carole will replace Gerry Lynch who leaves the post to start training for ordination at the end of September.

Bishop Nicholas said, “Carole will be an excellent Director of Communications in succession to Gerry Lynch. She is a priest who will be making use of experience and skills that were the core of her secular work prior to ordination. We very much look forward to her arrival here.”

Bishop Karen, who is Chair of the Diocese’s Communications Group, said,  “I am delighted to welcome Carole to the role. She brings both parish ministry and media experience to it.

“I look forward to working with her as we further our communications strategy as a Diocese and continue to renew hope as we pray, serve and grow.”

The Revd Carole Peters-King said,  “I am really looking forward to working alongside the amazing and varied urban and rural church communities that make up the Diocese of Salisbury, communicating all the wide-ranging ministry and mission that we do here.

“Communication has always played a key part in Christianity. From the eye-witness Gospel accounts through to the many Letters that help to communicate so much of what we believe, the Bible shows us just how important the sharing of our stories is. It is called the ‘Good News’ after all!

“Good communication educates, informs and entertains, and I believe what we do in the Diocese of Salisbury can also inspire, not just ourselves and our neighbours, but the wider world.

“Personally, I can’t wait to start sharing all the stories and outreach that we are creating here, in our towns, our villages, along our coasts and across our plains and all in Christ’s name. What a privilege!”

Carole is currently rector of a benefice of nine rural communities in six parishes in South Northamptonshire; indeed, her entire ministry until now has been spent in rural communities. During her nine years in ministry she has worked in both remote rural settings and in larger communities.

Before her ordination, Carole had a long career in media, working in local and national print journalism, radio and television, and culminating in seventeen years as a BAFTA-nominated producer and director of television documentaries, as well as work on educational television and popular entertainment.

Carole takes up her post on 15 October.
