New Diocesan Ambassador for The Children's Society

by Michael Ford last modified 29 Jun, 2022 05:33 PM

The Children’s Society are delighted to announce that Georgie Polius is the new volunteer Diocesan Ambassador for The Children’s Society in the Diocese of Salisbury.

Georgie, originally from Grenada, wanted to get involved with The Children’s Society due to their aim to improve the lives of children and to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. Georgie has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Anthropology. She has volunteered with the local Lions Clubs since the age of 18, both in England and the Caribbean and is currently a trustee. She has also volunteered with the Trussell Trust foodbank and is a member of the PCC for her church.

Georgie will be supporting Jess Meale, Community Relationships Manager for the charity in the South-West, by raising awareness of the charities work, networking and identifying partnership opportunities. Jess said: “I’m delighted to welcome Georgie to the role of Diocesan Ambassador. As The Church of England Children’s Society, we want to grow and nurture our relationship with local parishes and the Diocese, especially after a tumultuous few years. It’s wonderful to have someone based in the Diocese who is familiar with the church and how Diocese and parishes work, who can help to grow our engagement in the area. Georgie will be a huge asset to the charity”.

Georgie said “I am so grateful to be afforded this opportunity to serve my diocese and contribute to the work of The Children’s Society Charity. Having completed our family through adoption, this Charity is very close to our hearts”

Jess and Georgie were delighted to attend the inauguration of +Stephen at the Cathedral on Sunday 19 June. As part of the #SalisburysGotTalent £10 challenge, Jess donated the money to The Children’s Society. Georgie took it one step further and asked friends and family to match the donation in lieu of birthday gifts. So far, she’s raised £75! Georgie can be found on Twitter @GLPolius_TCS or contacted by emailing Georgie.Polius@childrenssociety-volunteer.org.uk
