New Dean of Women’s Ministry

The Dean is the Bishop’s adviser for women’s ministry, consulting with women clergy in the Diocese as and when necessary and representing their needs and views as a body to the Bishop, the Bishop’s Staff and elsewhere.

The role is very much that of a champion of women’s ministry, working for the fullest possible development of women’s potential in ordained ministry, and a person to whom women clergy can go if there are unresolved issues that need to be addressed.

As well as ensuring a strong wellbeing strand to her work, the new Dean is a member of NADAWM (National Association of Diocesan Advisers in Women’s Ministry), attending national and area meetings where possible.

Bishop Nicholas was delighted with the appointment, commenting, "I am very grateful to Jane for picking this up!"

Jane was ordained in 1993 and is Rural Dean of Calne and Vicar of Royal Wootton Bassett, alongside other roles up to Archdeaconry - and now Diocesan - level. She is married to Richard, who is the Team Rector of Cannings and Redhorn, as well as the Chair of our Diocesan Advisory Committee.
