New Community Hub at Christ Church Creekmoor

by Michael Ford last modified 16 Feb, 2022 04:34 PM

Christ Church Creekmoor has taken a huge step, listening to God and with His guidance, creating a new Community Hub costing £1.4 million.

The extension has created a larger worship space, chapel, café area, upper room, and an additional garden entrance.

Michelle Bird, Communications Coordinator shares: "God was certainly in the timing of the build, as we were able to hold our very first service in the building, and then lockdown hit, and we were closed for a long time. Fortunately, we were able to lock the building securely and re-introduce staff in the larger working space as things began to ease.

"Our Hub Café finally opened in September 2021, and through funding employed a Trainee Café Manager and an Assistant Cook, who have an amazing number of volunteers from the congregation and the community to help serve in the café. We are so blessed! The usual menu consists of homemade cakes, paninis, an all-day breakfast, and the usual teas and coffees. On Thursdays we have a Hot Meal Deal of a main, dessert and cuppa for just £10, which really helps support the Community.

"The Upper Room is available for hire and features the beautiful cross on the window, which looks out over Creekmoor. With brand-new audio-visual equipment, it is a versatile space that is suitable for many types of groups such as: Slimming World, Pilates groups, and we have Itsy Bitsy Dance for toddlers coming soon.

"In the main worship space, we have many activities for families with young children, including new mums, which has been much appreciated due to the impact that covid has had on the health services. Mums have been so relieved to meet up again and support each other and the babies and children can gain that essential experience of mixing with one another. We also have Creative Expressions, a craft group for the community on Thursdays, which is very popular and growing each week.

"If you would like to visit our café, hire the Upper room, or find out more about our activities, please visit our website or call 01202 267427"
