Motcolmbe School's Easter Experience

With the help of others from the church community, the school children came into the church and created three pieces of craft linked to the Easter Story. Every child decorated a cross. Each class reflected on a different aspect of the world and created their own prayers. The three youngest class groups made stained glass windows, whilst the older children created spoon figures from the Easter Story.  

Many children had also made Easter Garden and winners are to be announced before the end of term. The wonderful creations made by the children were displayed around the church in readiness for their school Easter Service. At the service led by the Revd Pam Rink, the children gave readings and prayers, paraded to music with some of their crafts and sang joyously, including a song for Reverend to the tune of ‘Hey Jude’.  

The Revd Pam is retiring at the end of April, so the children shared their appreciation for her time spent in school with flowers and a book of photos and messages. Although the work has been taken down in readiness for the children to take it home for the Easter holidays, you can still see the Easter Garden made by the children with a School Governor outside in the churchyard.  

Over two days parents and the community of Motcombe were invited in to see the children’s work. There were many fantastic comments, including this one from a parent, “What a beautiful display! Thank you for providing a special Easter experience. My child was very excited to tell me everything he had learnt and created.” And from a member of the congregation “ Stunning! Never seen the church so alive and vibrant. Faith in Action!”
