Mission Trade Fair for Dorset

by Michael Ford last modified 06 Oct, 2017 10:47 AM

Huge numbers of Christians from many denominations across Dorset will gather at St Nicholas’ Church, Corfe Mullen on Saturday 24 November (9.30am-4pm) to celebrate outreach projects in the community.

The ‘Mission Trade Fair’ is a stimulating opportunity to share ideas that have been tried, tested, and proven to work. Christians will be inspired to develop new connections with their communities, families, and people in need.

There will be 45 display stands and twelve workshops, with topics such as ‘Credit Action’, ‘FoodBanks’, ‘Eco Church’ and ‘Poole Missional Communities'.

The Bishop of Sherborne, Dr Graham Kings, will introduce the day and the keynote speaker, the Revd Paul Cowley. Mr Cowley is from Holy Trinity Brompton, London, and directs their social transformation work, especially with ex offenders. The initiative grew out of Alpha courses run in prisons.

Dr Kings said, “Mission is an umbrella term, which interweaves sharing the good news of Christ with work for social justice. Paul Cowley's life and message today breathes mission. He came to faith following service in the army, where he was attached to Special Forces. I am excited about the sheer breadth of projects gathered in one place."

Colin Brady, Social Responsibility Adviser for Churches Together in Dorset, said, “I am very encouraged by the response from exhibitors and workshop leaders. We will have high-quality speakers and workshops which I know will help local church members to think through new projects and develop fresh expressions of Christian life in our area.”
