Mini Melodies and Bedtime Stories

by Michael Ford last modified 01 May, 2020 06:49 PM

How do you hold a lively church music group for babies and pre-schoolers during lockdown? For one Wiltshire church, the answer has been social media.

Mini Melodies for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers, organised by St James’ Church in Trowbridge, takes place on Tuesday mornings.

And since the lockdown the Children & Families Worker Tom Bullock has carried on leading the popular and lively sessions, but from his home.

Tom says:

"Mini Melodies at Home has the usual wonderful ingredients of songs, rhymes, movement, dance, Bible story and prayer and making the sessions available online.

"This term the theme is ‘birds’, moving onto ‘fruit’ later on."

And once they have finished the sessions, how to you then get those minis to bed? Well Tom has that sorted too:

"The Toddler Group Team has also created an additional Facebook page which is being updated with craft ideas, and also includes bedtime stories particularly geared towards younger children, with members of the congregation reading a story to be listened to and watch last thing at night."

You can watch the latest edition of Mini Melodies at Home via YouTube and also on the church Facebook page.
